WELCOME TO OUR BETA BITS
We Round Up Some Recent News from Beta Bugs in our March Beta Bits Newsletter

Full Steam Ahead at Beta Bugs HQ!
The insect farming sector continues to evolve rapidly as companies refine their models, scale production systems and focus on the innovations that will drive long-term commercial success. At Beta Bugs, the past few months have marked an important moment in that journey.
As the company sharpens its focus on genetics, we are continue the development of our products designed to help producers unlock greater value, performance, consistency and scalability in Black Soldier Fly farming. Genetics has long transformed traditional livestock industries, and we believe the same shift will play a defining role in the future of insect production.
This edition of Beta Bits highlights some of the key developments underway, including our strategic focus on genetics, the appointment of Dr Alan Tinch as CEO, and preparations for Insects to Feed the World 2026 in Turin, where the global insect industry will once again come together to share ideas and progress.
We also look back at the latest issue of Beta Buzz, which continues to explore the opportunities and challenges shaping insect farming worldwide.
Here’s a look at some of the standout moments from the past few months:
A New Direction for Beta Bugs: A Genetics-Focused Strategy
Over the past year, Beta Bugs has sharpened its strategic focus on one core area: Black Soldier Fly genetics.
As the insect farming industry matures, the importance of reliable and high-performing biological inputs is becoming increasingly clear. Just as genetics transformed productivity in poultry, aquaculture, and livestock, we believe genetics will play a critical role in enabling scalable, predictable BSF production.
Following our strategic review in 2025, the company has shifted its resources toward developing elite genetic strains for the global BSF industry.
This renewed focus allows us to concentrate on what we do best: developing the biological foundation that powers insect farming systems worldwide.
Alongside this strategic shift, we are also working on the next generation of our genetics product, designed to deliver measurable improvements in performance traits and support the industry as it moves toward large-scale commercial production.
More updates on this exciting development will be shared in the months ahead.
Leadership Update: Dr Alan Tich Named CEO
We are pleased to announce that Dr Alan Tinch has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Beta Bugs, effective February 2026.
Dr Tinch brings more than 35 years of experience in farm animal and aquaculture genetics, with a career dedicated to developing and commercialising products and technologies across global agriculture.
Having worked closely with the company during a comprehensive review of our genetics programme, Alan is ideally positioned to lead Beta Bugs through its next phase of development.
Under his leadership, the company will continue advancing its genetics programme, validating high-performance BSF strains and building long-term partnerships with producers across the global insect farming sector.
We look forward to the impact Alan will bring as we continue strengthening our position as a genetics provider to the industry.

EVENTS: PREPARING FOR INSECTS TO FEED THE WORLD 2026
The team at Beta Bugs is currently preparing for one of the sector’s most important gatherings:
Insects to Feed the World 2026
