Royal Society of Edinburgh – How Insects Could Provide a Solution to Climate Change

Dr Thomas Farrugia is Founder and CEO of Beta Bugs Limited, the insect genetics company, which he established in 2017. The company, headquartered at Easter Bush Campus, develops and distributes high-performance breeds of Black Soldier Fly for the insects-as-feed industry. The UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties COP26 in Glasgow on 1 – 12 November 2021. The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scottish Science Advisory Council and Scottish Alliance for Geoscience, Environment and Society are collaborating to highlight Scottish research and science and its contribution to understanding and tackling climate change. A broad range of researchers and practitioners in Scotland whose work relates to the Earth’s climate are being interviewed in the lead up to COP26.
